environmental medicine

"She saw very well trained physicians, she was in a hospital for 57 days at $750.00 a day. No one believed that it could be floride that was causing the problem. It's a shame that more people don't understand that chemicals can have strange effects on some children." ---- Dr. Doris Rapp on Phil Donahue Show "Children's Hidden Allergies"

Environmental medical doctors understand that many things in our everyday environment can cause baffling or crippling disease and it only requires eliminating or replacing them to become well. Contrast this to "management" with prescription drugs which is the answer conventional medical doctors find acceptable.
The most striking thing about environmental medicine is that you have responsibility for your health. Many things you do to become well do not require a prescription or a doctor's intervention. And once you understand a few basic concepts you can begin to protect your own health so you do not become ill.
Dr. Doris Rapp, a leading pediatric allergist and environmental medical specialist says a key question to ask yourself when you suddenly become ill is. "What did I just eat, smell, or touch that could have been the cause?". Dr. Rapp writes, "it is astounding how many people have found answers to chronic health challenges after thinking about this question." (from You Can Find Answers on Your Own)
One of the biggest stumbling blocks to regaining our health as individuals and as a nation is the misperception of allergies as itchy eyes and runny noses. Understanding toxic chemicals and allergies affect people emotionally is one of the key contributions made by environmental medicine. Dr. Richard Jaeckle explains in Background: Neurological Aspects of Allergy
"There are 80 plus articles showing that in ordinary hyperactivity in children it's related to food allergy but the pediatricians won't read it they just write Ritalin."
